Lidia’s Story
At the age of five, I experienced my first real love—a stunning pair of shiny apple-red shoes. I remember walking into that boutique, my heart racing, knowing exactly which ones I wanted. But when I saw them, my excitement turned to heartbreak: there was only one pair left, and they were one size too small. I couldn’t understand why, out of all the beautiful shoes in the world, this one pair couldn’t be mine. But my mother, seeing my tears, made a choice that I’ll never forget. She bought them for me, even though she knew they wouldn’t fit. At home, I took them out of the box and stared at them for hours until I finally drifted off to sleep, my heart full of joy just knowing they were mine.
As I grew older, my love for shoes only deepened—but so did the frustration of finding the right size. At 14, I slipped into my first pair of heels—red four-inch pumps that were one size too big. I didn’t let that stop me. I stuffed them with tissue paper to make them fit and walked with a delicate grace. Even though they were too large, I felt like the most beautiful girl in the world.
That moment marked the beginning of my lifelong search for a perfect fit. Finding beautiful shoes in women’s size four became a never-ending challenge. As I searched for options, I realized I wasn’t alone—there are so many people, especially in the LGBTQ+ community, who face the same struggle. Small and large sizes are hard to find, and when they are available, the style options are often limited or lack that special flair. So, I decided to do something about it.
